It's a Sling Thing

In an art gallary at Pensacola Christian College

You have often heard it said that mothers need three (or more!) hands. I don't think I truly appreciated the truth of this statement until I became a mother! In a pinch, I've learned to do dishes, write and email, open containers, read a book, and do many other things one handed.

But I've discovered how great it is to just strap my boy over my shoulder in a sling! Malachi loves to ride along with Mommy in his sling - I love to use it when I go shopping, run errands, or cook dinner. In fact, he is happily snoozing in it right now, which makes him happy and makes it much easier for me to type!

Even Daddy likes to "wear" the baby!

This is an historic church in downtown Pensacola.

The sling makes baby feel swaddled, close to someone familiar, and the rocking motion he feels as I walk around lulls him and often puts him to sleep.

The comments that I get when I'm out-and-about with the baby sling are so funny - one guy was worried that the baby was going to fall out (like Mom would really let that happen!). One woman walked past Trav when he was wearing it and did a double take, "Oh, there's a baby in there!" Her little boy said, "Wow, Mom, it's a baby sack!"

If Mommy's really careful, she can put him down without him noticing!

The slings are so handy. I really loved my Baby Bajorn too. Almost better than the sling (better for my back too..)
